I had a great time playing with the Scappoose High School bands the other night. What a wonderful group of kids led by a great band teacher, Mr. Larry Jackson. Mr. Jackson reported to me that a number of middle school students changed their schedules the following morning so that they can stay in the band. Thanks to the parents, community, Mr. Jackson, and especially the kids for their hospitality and support for the band program.

- Welcome to my blog. I started JQMS 30 years ago and have taught all kinds of music classes at all levels during that time. JQMS has recently completed a number of projects, most notably "Beautiful Bones". The success of the CD has presented me the opportunity to give back to the community by putting together fund raising opportunities for band programs as a soloist and clinician, by working with wonderful students, including those at George Fox University, and by continuing to perform, produce, and contract. The time has come to write a blog that I hope will be enjoyed, utilized, and passed along. I have been fortunate enough to meet, work with, and befriend a most colorful group whose stories are worth sharing. Many of these entries are for the purpose of perpetuating collected wisdom. Others are entertaining stories, some hilarious. Once the direction of this blog becomes obvious I believe some people may want to make their own submissions.
